Soludo’s Wife Commemorates World Sickle Cell Day with Health Support Initiatives and Visit to Sickle Cell Orphanage and Underprivileged Home in Agulu

In a heartwarming gesture to mark World Sickle Cell Day, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, the wife of Anambra State Governor, visited the Sickle Cell Orphanage and Underprivileged Home in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area.

Accompanied by her team, Mrs. Soludo spent quality time with the children, reinforcing her commitment to supporting their health and education needs.

The visit included the announcement of significant health support measures by the state government. Mrs. Soludo revealed that the administration has enrolled 71 individuals with sickle cell disease into the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme. Additionally, the orphanage will receive monthly subvention to ensure the children’s welfare and the smooth operation of the home.

Mrs. Soludo emphasized the government’s commitment to inclusiveness and humanitarian efforts, stating that everyone, regardless of their health status, deserves equal opportunities to pursue their dreams.

The Director of the Sickle Cell Orphanage, Mrs. Aisha Maduagwu expressed gratitude for Mrs. Soludo’s initiatives, highlighting the offer of free health insurance to 1000 persons with special needs and 71 individuals with sickle cell disease. She also appreciated the donation of food and cash to the home.
