Mrs. Nonye Soludo, wife of Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has taken her Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative to Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe. Yesterday, she commissioned the “Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Garden” and launched the “Weekly Physical Exercise” initiative at the institution.
In her address, Mrs. Soludo emphasized the importance of a healthy lifestyle, stressing that it’s not only beneficial but also affordable, despite the country’s economic challenges. She encouraged the audience to make conscious food choices, highlighting the risks of excessive sugar intake and processed foods.
The First Lady pointed out that children’s health is being damaged by consuming high-sugar foods and drinks. She cited research showing that vegetables are easier to digest than processed foods, advocating for eating natural, unprocessed foods.
Mrs. Soludo also harped on the significance of regular exercise, particularly after age 30, when muscle mass naturally decreases. Exercise, she noted, aids in weight management, skin health, and potentially extends lifespan.
During her visit, Mrs. Soludo commended Mrs. Justina Anyadiegwu, Provost of Nwafor Orizu College of Education Nsugbe, for her Healthy Living Farm initiative. The farm aligns with Mrs. Soludo’s vision to establish similar farms in every educational institution.
This initiative is part of Mrs. Soludo’s broader Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo campaign, launched in July 2023. The campaign aims to promote healthy living habits among students and the general public.
The Anambra First Lady has been actively promoting healthy living through various initiatives, including the launch of Healthy Living Clubs in primary schools and Sanitary Pad Banks in secondary schools.
By establishing Healthy Living Gardens and promoting physical exercise, Mrs. Soludo hopes to inspire a culture of wellness in Anambra State.
Mrs. Soludo’s commitment to healthy living has been well-received, with many praising her efforts to improve the lives of Anambra residents.
As the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative continues to gain momentum, it’s clear that Mrs. Soludo’s vision for a healthier Anambra State is taking root.
