Mrs. Nonye Soludo, the First Lady of Anambra State and Founder of Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo, marked the 2025 World Immunization Week yesterday, launching a campaign to raise awareness among parents about the vital importance of immunization. The event highlighted the state’s commitment to protecting children from vaccine-preventable diseases and ensuring a healthier future for its youngest residents.

In her address, Mrs. Soludo outlined the state’s ambitious goals for the initiative. “As we kick off the 2025 World Immunization Week in Anambra State, we’ve set a target for increased coverage and comparatively greater results,” she said. She emphasized that the immunization drive aims to vaccinate every child aged zero to fifteen months living in Anambra State, in line with Nigeria’s latest routine immunization timetable.

Mrs. Soludo called on a broad coalition of stakeholders to support the effort, including parents, guardians, schools, and religious institutions. She urged them to spread awareness and ensure that families follow through with vaccinating eligible children. Additionally, she appealed to women leaders across the state’s 179 communities and 326 political wards, saying, “I equally appeal to women leaders… to, as a matter of responsibility, take up this task.”

Stressing the urgency of the mission, she declared, “The responsibility of protecting our children from vaccine-preventable diseases is non-negotiable. The lives of these children are as important as that future we are building around them. Let’s see this task as a sacred one.” She concluded her speech by thanking all participants and offering a blessing, saying, “Thank you all and may God bless you.”

The 2025 World Immunization Week event, led by Mrs. Soludo, demonstrates the critical role of community involvement in achieving comprehensive immunization coverage and safeguarding the health of Anambra’s children.
