On June 15, 2025, the wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, joined millions across the globe in celebrating Father’s Day, paying tribute to the vital role fathers play in families and society.
In a heartfelt statement released to commemorate the occasion, Mrs. Soludo described fathers as more than just heads of households, calling them “the pillars of our homes and communities” and “the fabrics that hold every home and society together.”
She emphasized the importance of recognizing the dedication and strength that fathers embody, stating, “Today, we celebrate their resilience, love, and sacrifices. Fatherhood is one big responsibility that comes with immense pride.”
The First Lady concluded her message with a warm salute to fathers everywhere: “To all the amazing dads out there, today and always, we celebrate your hard work and resilience. Happy Fathers’ Day to all of you!”
Mrs. Soludo, who is also known for her advocacy on family welfare and child development, used the opportunity to call for greater support systems for fathers. She noted that while mothers often receive recognition for their nurturing roles, fathers also deserve encouragement, policies, and social backing that help them succeed in parenting.
She further highlighted the importance of positive fatherhood in shaping future generations, stressing that fathers who are involved in their children’s lives contribute significantly to emotional stability, academic success, and social behavior.
The Father’s Day message was well received across the state, with many citizens taking to social media to commend the First Lady for her thoughtful tribute. Several community leaders also echoed her sentiments, urging fathers to continue being role models and anchors of unity in their families and communities.
