The Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, joined her husband, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo CFR, in flagging off the construction of roads in Nnewi. The event marked the commencement of two significant infrastructure projects aimed at improving the state’s road network.
According to the Governor’s wife, “I joined my husband earlier today for the flag off of construction of 10.8km Nkwo Oraifite to Nkwo Nnewi Road, and the 5.8km Oraifite Civic Center—Afiaụzọ—Akwukwu—Owerri—Onitsha Road, with standard flood and erosion control.” She further elaborated on the importance of these developments, stating, “These important road projects, which would be completed within the space of twelve months, will no doubt serve a valuable purpose in the ongoing strategic connectivity and economic growth of Anambra State. Anambra is opening up. Step by step, we’ll build that state of our dream.”
Also speaking at the event, Governor Soludo said, “Today, I flagged off the construction of two major roads with major erosion work measuring 10metres to 30metres and a depth 20metres to 22metres. These projects will be completed within the next 12 months, opening up new opportunities for our people. We are connecting Anambra, one road at a time. May Anambra continue to win!” He emphasized the inclusion of substantial erosion control measures to ensure the longevity and effectiveness of the roads.
The projects, comprising the 10.8km Nkwo Oraifite to Nkwo Nnewi Road and the 5.8km Oraifite Civic Center—Afiaụzọ—Akwukwu—Owerri—Onitsha Road, are designed with standard flood and erosion control features, reflecting the state’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure development.
