Mrs. Nonye Soludo, the wife of Anambra State Governor, recently met with a delegation from the ASUBEB Digital Teachers Soludo Support Group, led by renowned Professor Vera Nkiru Nwadinobi. The meeting provided an enriching opportunity for Mrs. Soludo to engage with educators at the forefront of shaping the state’s future through education.

She expressed deep gratitude to the teachers for their tireless efforts in nurturing young minds, acknowledging her personal connection to the teaching profession through her mother, also a teacher. This connection gives her a profound appreciation for the challenges and rewards inherent in this noble calling.

However, Mrs. Soludo highlighted the alarming trend of neglect in child upbringing, citing the increasing number of primary school children engaging in harmful activities like cultism and drug abuse. To combat this, she emphasized the urgency of initiatives like the “Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Clubs” in primary and secondary institutions.

These clubs aim to foster a healthier lifestyle and provide a safe environment for youth, steering them away from negative influences. Despite these challenges, Anambra State has seen bright spots of success, with secondary school students excelling in national and international competitions.

Governor Soludo’s commitment to education is evident in his policies, including the employment of over 8,000 teachers and provision of free education for all students in public primary and secondary schools. This solidifies the collective belief in education as the cornerstone of development.

During the meeting, Mrs. Soludo discussed her “Healthy Living” initiative, promoting natural, unprocessed foods, regular exercise, and home gardens to reconnect with nature and teach responsibility.

These steps not only focus on health but also serve as educational tools, teaching children self-sufficiency and a balanced lifestyle.

Mrs. Soludo extended her deepest appreciation to the teachers present and across the state, acknowledging their pivotal role in shaping the moral and physical well-being of future leaders.

The meeting concluded with a call to action, urging continued collaboration for the betterment of the educational system and holistic development of Anambra State’s children.

By working together, Mrs. Soludo hopes to create a brighter future for the youth of Anambra State, empowering them to become responsible, educated, and healthy leaders.
