In a remarkable event that unfolded at Coke Market Onitsha, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, the First Lady of Anambra, visited the bustling market to spread awareness about the crucial aspects of healthy living and environmental hygiene.
The visit, aimed at enlightening the traders, was a part of her long-standing mission to improve the quality of life in Anambra State.
Mrs. Soludo, who has been championing the cause of healthy living for the past 18 years, emphasized the importance of personal and environmental hygiene in her speech. She passionately urged the market women to return to natural, unprocessed foods, highlighting the harmful effects of preservatives on the human body.
“We must eat natural foods the way God created it. Let’s cultivate vegetables and tomatoes in our homes. Foods with preservatives are poisonous to our bodies,” she advised.
The First Lady also stressed the significance of hand washing in preventing the spread of germs, which are a major cause of sickness. She expressed concern over the increasing drug usage among children and urged the market women to keep a watchful eye on their kids.
Earlier, the Chairman of Coke Market Onitsha, Mr. Patrick Udeze, acknowledged Mrs. Soludo’s efforts and expressed his gratitude for her visit. He mentioned that he had been following her healthy living campaign on Facebook and was glad to welcome her to the market.
Also speaking, the Woman Leader of Coke Market Onitsha, Mrs. Aniegbunam Gloria, praised Mrs. Soludo’s efforts and prayed for a second tenure for the Soludo administration, promising their votes en masse.
On his part, the Commissioner for Health and State Coordinator of Healthy Loving with Nonye Soludo, Dr. Afam Obidike, commended the First Lady for her unwavering support and inspiration to her husband.
The event also featured presentations on personal hygiene and basic life emergencies, as well as a drama act to reinforce the message of healthy living. The visit by Mrs. Nonye Soludo to Coke Market Onitsha was a significant step towards a healthier and more prosperous Anambra State.
