AWKA— The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has strongly condemned the physical assault of a female National Youth Service Corps member, Edema Jennifer, by members of a local security outfit in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area.

In a press statement released on Tuesday, the First Lady described the incident, captured in a viral video, as an “ugly and humiliating abuse” for which there is no justification.

Dr Soludo asserted that such a demeaning approach to law and order contradicts the celebrated identity of Anambra people as “hospitable and peaceful.”

She further stressed that the actions of the operatives do not reflect the humane philosophy of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.

“I have seen a viral video of the sad incident,” the statement read. “There is no justification whatsoever for such an ugly and humiliating abuse. There are always rules of engagement in such situations, and they must prioritize dignity, civility, and respect.”

The governor’s wife, who found the incident “very disturbing,” urged the authorities already looking into the matter to take critical measures to ensure justice is served and to prevent any future recurrence of such a “worrisome scene.”

“Anambra’s image is priceless. We must guard it jealously,” she concluded.
