The Anambra State Government, in collaboration with the Office of the First Lady, has launched the 2024 Immunization Week with a focus on increasing coverage and achieving better results.
The program aims to ensure that every child within the vaccination age (zero to fifteen months) in the state receives the necessary immunizations.
First Lady Mrs. Nonye Soludo emphasized the importance of this exercise, urging stakeholders, including parents, guardians, schools, and religious institutions, to spread awareness and follow up on families whose children should be vaccinated.
She also appealed to women leaders of the 179 communities and 326 political wards in Anambra State to take up the task.
Mrs. Soludo stressed that protecting children from vaccine-preventable diseases is non-negotiable, as their lives are crucial to building a safe and happy future.
Currently, Anambra State ranks second among states with the lowest number of under-5 mortality in Nigeria, but the government is determined to achieve even better results.
