First Lady Soludo Meets With NCWS Leaders, Highlights Women’s Empowerment and Health Initiatives

The Anambra State Executive of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) recently paid a courtesy visit to the First Lady, at the Government Lodge in Amawbia.

Mrs. Soludo acknowledged their alignment with the administration’s agenda and emphasized the Soludo administration’s commitment to women’s empowerment, citing the appointment of numerous women to government positions.

The First Lady urged women to support each other and actively participate in politics. “With your collective strength, we can achieve anything,” she declared.

Mrs. Soludo addressed the growing concern about drug use among children. She explained the establishment of Healthy Living Clubs in schools as a preventive measure. She stressed the importance of open communication between parents and children, stating, “Our children look up to our actions, not just our words.”

The Governor’s wife highlighted her “Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo” initiative, promoting healthy eating habits, natural foods, and regular exercise. She emphasized the importance of good hygiene practices and proper water channels to combat erosion.

She discussed the establishment of pad banks in all secondary schools to address menstrual health needs. Additionally, she mentioned basic emergency response training for citizens and the availability of an emergency response number (112). The distribution of anti-shock garments to prevent postpartum bleeding was also mentioned.

Mrs. Soludo encouraged women to embrace backyard gardening, an initiative also promoted by the Nigerian First Lady, Mrs. Remi Tinubu.

Earlier, the President of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), Lady Theresa Nnalue, praised the First Lady and highlighted the activities of NCWS. She expressed their desire to collaborate on the First Lady’s health initiatives.
