Members of the Association of Nigeria Women in Sports (NAWIS), Anambra Chapter, paid a courtesy visit to the Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Mrs. Nonye Soludo at the Governor’s Lodge Amawbia.

During the visit, Mrs. Soludo emphasized the importance of exercise and healthy living, encouraging women to make time for physical activity and healthy eating.
“The number one thing I always tell people is exercise dirty and eat clean, that is the summary,” she said. “Exercise is one of our main pillars! We are still in the International Women’s Week and this is a wonderful time we are having now.”
Mrs. Soludo also highlighted the benefits of regular exercise, noting that it can save lives, increase lifespan, and promote aging gracefully.

Mrs. Soludo assured the NAWIS members of her support, stating that she has been promoting healthy living for 17 years. She expressed concern about the unhealthy eating habits of many Nigerians, particularly the consumption of processed foods and sugary drinks. “What we eat, a lot of things our people see as evidence of good living is what is actually killing us,” she said.

The Governor’s wife also called on mothers to make their daughters their best friends, warning that society and social media can have a negative influence on young girls. She commended the Coach of the Girls Volleyball players in the state for her efforts and encouraged NAWIS to continue promoting sports among girls.

The State Coordinator of NAWIS, Faith Okwonna, stated that the organization aims to advocate for the inclusion of women in sports at all levels. She highlighted NAWIS’ activities, including sports competitions, workshops, and advocacy visits to girls’ schools. Okwonna prayed for partnership with Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo and sponsorship of the first edition of NAWIS Secondary Schools Athletics Competition including official endorsement of the Governor’s wife as Grand Patron of NAWIS, Anambra.
